Christopher T. Calio was appointed president of Pratt & Whitney’s Commercial Engines business in January 2017, responsible for the development, program management, sales, customer support and aftermarket services of the company’s portfolio of large commercial engines, including the PurePower® Geared Turbofan™ engine family.
Most recently, Chris served as chief of staff of the United Technologies Corp. (UTC) Chairman and CEO. He joined UTC in 2005 as an assistant counsel and served in positions of increasing responsibility across the corporation. Chris led Pratt & Whitney’s Commercial Engines Legal Department during development and launch of the A320neo program, and was instrumental in leading the company’s acquisition of Rolls-Royce’s share in the International Aero Engines collaboration. He also served as vice president and general counsel for UTC Aerospace Systems, one of the world’s largest suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and defense products.
Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Trinity College, and MBA and law degrees from the University of Connecticut.
