Pratt & Whitney launched its global sustainability goals for 2025 – the company's 100-year anniversary at the 2013 Paris Air Show. Pratt & Whitney's focus on Waste, Energy, Water, Safety & Wellness, Materials, Suppliers and Products will further improve the sustainability of its factories, suppliers and products by 2025 and increase efficiencies, create added value for its customers and employees, and lead industry efforts to reduce aviation's environmental impact.

Pratt & Whitney is separating its environmental footprint from business growth. Despite our production increase over the next five years, we will still show absolute reductions in environmental metrics compared to 2000.

Pratt & Whitney has interim goals for 2020 that are detailed by our parent company, United Technologies, which can be found on the Natural Leader website.

Waste

Water

2025 Goal: Zero waste to landfill from our factories.   2025 Goal: Reduce water consumption by 80 percent.

Since 2000, Pratt & Whitney has increased the amount of its industrial process waste that is recycled from 41% to 61%. That's more than 1,800 garbage trucks full of waste.   Since 2000, P&W has reduced water use by 72%. That equates to nearly 1 billion gallons, which is enough to fill more than 1,500 Olympic swimming pools.

GHG

2025 Goal: Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent.

Since 2000, Pratt & Whitney has reduced greenhouse gas emissions from its facilities by 36%, which equates to 264,000 metric tons of CO2. That's equal to the annual emissions of 50,000 cars.
