Supplier Gold and Sustainability

2025 goal: Our suppliers will have world-class safety rates and will meet aggressive resource conservation targets.

Currently, Pratt & Whitney suppliers are required to follow a code of conduct that includes resource conservation, ethics, labor guidelines and safe workplace requirements. Combined with quality and delivery metrics, suppliers are assessed under the UTC supplier Gold program and given a designation (Gold, Silver or Bronze) based on their performance and code of conduct. Find out more about this program on the UTC Supplier website.

Through 2019, UTC and Pratt & Whitney will be adding requirements to Supplier Gold qualifications that include Environmental, Health and Safety management systems as well as other sustainability criteria.

REACh

Pratt & Whitney's cross functional team is addressing the potential impacts of REACh via multiple methods including, but not limited to the following:

  • • Assessing all of our drawings, specifications, and repair procedures to understand our current use of substances that are affected by the regulation
  • • Sending out supplier surveys to understand substances used in supplier designed hardware
  • • Joining industry consortia such as the Chromium Trioxide Authorization Consortium (CTAC), the Chromium VI Compounds for Surface Treatment (CCST), and the Global Chromates Consortium for Aerospace (GCCA) to submit Authorizations to extend the use of hexavalent chromium (Cr+6) substances in the EU past the sunset dates
  • • Funding research and development for substitute substances
