John Saabas is the president of Pratt & Whitney Canada. He began his career at Pratt & Whitney Canada in 1985 as an analyst in Structures & Dynamics and subsequently held positions of increasing responsibility in Engineering and Operations.
John was most recently executive vice president of Pratt & Whitney Canada, beginning in 2006 and ending when he was appointed president in 2009. Prior to his vice president position, he served as senior vice president, Engineering & Operations and vice president, Engineering. His early career at Pratt & Whitney Canada included roles as a project engineer and senior project engineer; director, New Operations Programs; manager, Manufacturing Engineering; vice president, Procurement and Logistics and vice president, Engineering Development.
John was also awarded an Alumni Achievement Medal by the University of Waterloo's Faculty of Engineering in 2008 for his leadership and vision in leveraging innovation and research collaboration to advance the Canadian aerospace industry. In 2013, he received the CEO Sustainable Development Award from the Quebec business publication Les Affaires for his visionary leadership.
John holds a bachelor's and a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Waterloo and a doctorate degree in aerodynamics from McGill University.
