Pratt & Whitney Honors Three Employees as Distinguished Engineers of the Year
Pratt & Whitney and the Hartford Section of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) honored three Distinguished Engineers of the Year last evening in advance of National Engineers Week, which begins on Feb. 19. The ASME Hartford Section issues these awards annually to recognize and promote excellence in the field of engineering. Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
"This year's honorees are true innovators and played critical roles in the development of Pratt & Whitney's revolutionary PurePower® Geared Turbofan™ (GTF) engine," said Dave Carter, senior vice president, Engineering, Pratt & Whitney. "They each deserve to be recognized for their career-long contributions to their fields and our organization."
Pratt & Whitney's Distinguished Engineers of the Year for 2017 are Robert Esteve, discipline manager, Certification and Airworthiness; Joseph F. McIlrath, Jr., Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) leader, PW1000G Mid Turbine Frame, Turbine Exhaust Case; and Daniel Whitesell, CIPT leader, PW1100G-JM High Pressure Compressor.
"The contributions by each of this year's honorees have enabled our GTF engine to be in service around the globe today. Rob's leadership has been instrumental in the Federal Aviation Administration's certification of the PW1100G-JM GTF engine variant. Joe has overseen the production of some of the most advanced structural castings we have introduced into a production engine," said Carter. "And, Dan has led significant advances in compression systems with his technical expertise. They are each very deserving of this honor."
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers is a not-for-profit organization that represents 130,000 engineers in more than 150 countries, including college students and young engineers, to senior researchers and executives.
